Red Bank Farm & how to stop a toddler waking in a bright tent...

Anyone been?? Read a horror review when I googled this campsite - nosiy horrid types next door with a pit bull off leash...not expecting silence (my little one starts murmuring about 4.30am which I'm sure is not popular!) but don't like oiks or dangerous dogs.
Planning on going end of Bank Hol mon for the rest of that week so I guess a lot of the crowds will have gone.

Not had a bad experience anywhere else this summer but now scared to believe uk campsite reviews after reading threads on here & I know some of you have had bad noise experiences.

And whilst you're all there - how do I stop a 13 month old waking with the birds - he's not great at home but at lease we can either ignore him or sit him in front of Tikabilla!

Cheers,
K

I know nothing about Red Bank Farm, but I can be fairly sure that you're going to be getting up earlier than usual.

Paradoxically you might not be. Our early riser stays up very late camping and as a result sleeps through the dawn chorus & doesn't notice the light - so it might be ok.

We went to Redbank Farm for our first ever camping trip...like you, went midweek. We absolutely loved it. Fab site. New, clean showers and loos, cleaned several times a day. There is a kiddies farm and free range hens wandering the site. Your little one will love it.
Also there is a beach across the road, literally a stones throw. You have to walk across some grassy bits to get onto the sand but its good fun and tires the kids out. We went a few times a day.

There is a nice cafe only open in the day, think it shuts at 4.30. You can have egg barms for brekkie and they use the eggs from their own hens which is nice. They also do nice hot choc and ice creams.

It was not busy or noisy at all, the only noise was some cows in the next fiels!

You can drive to the town, only 5 mins away. There is a Spar. Don't bother with the chippy, the food is really awful!

Lastly, this campsite is the cheapest I have seen, think I paid £5 per adult and £2.50 for kids! No extra charge for dogs. When I booked it, I DID go off the reviews on UKCS and found them to be correct. I have seen bad reviews for other sites on there so I think they do publish bad ones too.

Sounds good Lovesdogsandcats - will go for it - it was only 1 bad review to be honest.

Cockles - my 3 year old does the staying up late sleeping late thing when we camp but the little one can't keep his eyes open long enough - maybe will try a long sleep in the daytime and keep him up late - worth a try...did also wonder about draping some black out material over the travel cot??
