oh and that is cheap

we need

bowls that stack
cups/mugs that stack
some sort of folding washing up bowl or similar

Anything else that will enable us to shut the boot

we have just bought a bell tent so it is important that we maintain the tone

Any thoughts?

This is my tip:

buy two Really Useful Boxes (archive size)
Jam all rubbish in
sit on lids to do up.
(I fear that's how my kettle got crushed).

Most picnic crockery stacks, but I do prefer ordinary mugs, coffee does not taste good out of a small plastic mug.

Bulky things are water carrier, cold box, consider collapsible/bag type ones of those. Small trug makes a good washup bowl and can be squished into box or boot.

Obviously you won't need chairs/tables just a worn vintage blanket and mismatched cushions.

We don't buy a water carrier just 1 or2 large water bottles from the supermarket about 99p they have a handle on and we just recycle them when we leave, not very green maybe but easier to keep clean and don't have to store over winter.
Sporks are really funky, lightweight and the kids luv them. The knife bit takes some practice but hey spingers were made before sporks

sorry to be thick but about the Really Useful boxes, what size is Archive size? could you measure yours for me. I was wondering what would be a good place to cram all the bits in too...we have a bell tent on the way (hopefully) and not a very big car....

i decided not to get a collapsible washing up bowl. I have just bought a cheap plastic one and filled it with things likes washing up liquid/sponges/drying up cloths etc etc. that stuff would have had to have gone somewhere anyway iykwim.

IIRC it's the 19 litre here that also makes a good seat.

greenlotus · 20/07/2010 19:34

Scrub that last, I mean 35 litre. (sorry they are in the loft!) Being see through means you can peer in and discover the matches are at the bottom under all the tins.

I am not sure that they are really for glampers though... did you not do the questionnaire ?

OK

Here's my purchases this year.....

except it was cheaper B&Q 15 pounds. fab as the top makes a seat

then there is the folding bowl.

and finally - these lovely stacking cups.

love new camping stuff :-)

greenlotus i don't think I would get all my cr*p in there! Even in two! But brilliant idea, i wish i could. I actually have one of those boxes under my bed, i might pull it out and see how much I can squeeze into one b/c it is a very good idea.

lucysmum · 22/07/2010 21:38

not essential but i love my folding colander

agree use plastic trug for washing up bowl. Fill it with other bits for packing purposes.

ikea plastic stuff cheap and stacks pretty well

Also instead of solid chopping board use thin flexible silicon one that fits in edge of trug

for bell tent deffo need solar fairy lights for pole - they are very small !

i also have this utility tent to blend with my bell tent so you don't have to keep utilitarian stuff in your beautiful tent

lucysmum, do you have to pay extra to pitch utility tent? Also can you cook in it?
Also where do you get flexi chopping mat?
Thanks!
