DS aged 5 wants to see the lions!

Can anyone make any recommendations where to camp so that we have easy access to Longleat?

Thanks!

Watching with interest as I want to do this next year.

Ds has been an avid 'Animal Park' fan since birth .

Quite a few linked on the longleat website. Not stayed at any (we opted fora cottage in the end as went the first week in March)but one in a country park looked very nice.

Can't recommend Longleat highly enough as a day out. If you buy passpart tickets you can visit all the attractions and span it over 2 or 3 days. Worth using tesco clubcard vouchers for as that way the tickets are a bargain

We went on clubcard vouchers a couple of years ago, we camped nr bath, it wasn't far to longleat and we spent the next day in the fabulous town park in bath.

Brokerswood is close but quite basic. It does have a shop and a cafe and outdoor play equipment.

and nice...that didn't really sell it did it!

Yes, I have looked at the Longleat Website and then the reviews on Uk campsites. DH is happy even if we are about half hour drive away.

Brokerswood seems quite expensive at £29 a night. Lower Grange Farm unfortunately has horrible reviews on UK Campsite.

Thanks, everyone. Will have a look around a bit more.

hi we camped at church farm site in sixpenny handley, (sorry can't do links) its on the uk campsites page and has a website. its very very nice, soooo clean and has a small cafe too, at the weekend, even though the site is not big. we stayed here and went to longleat on sat then the beach on sunday (poole, golden sands). Both are about 30 mins away. Having been to longleat a few years ago the kids were very excited, however it was utter c**p!! cost us £80 to get in, no monkeys open at the moment, very little animals at all really, and rubbish rides that you can only have one go on. (passport ticket). we will never go again it really was dire!! poole was fab though, a free day on the beach was much better. we def recommend the site though, lovely!

also i should add that there were only female lions, all asleep and hardly visable, so my ds was very upset that he did not see a big mane! As prev post says you can use ticket to go again, but its 1 safari only so if you go again you can't see the animals twice. I think most people would end up paying to have 2nd goes on things if they returned, ie the maze, its fun but you can only do it once. sorry to sound negative but it is still fresh in my mind and we felt very ripped off!!

Thanks for reply, beccagrace2 and apologies for only replying now.

You have made us think twice about going! I mentioned to DH what you said and we thought we might leave Longleat for another year. Time and money is limited this summer so we would hate to waste either on a bum weekend away.

I am sure that Longleat will be there next year!!
