Braving the wind and rain this weekend?

We were planning to camp in Cromer this weekend, but forecast is wind and rain.

We've never camped with 3 yo DD in horrendous weather before ... getting cold feet about the whole thing.

Would you go? And if so, any tips for camping in the rain, especially the pitching part.

We'll be in Snowdonia, battling against the elements. My DC are 4, 6 and nearly 8. I am packing lots of waterproofs, and lots of games to play inside the tent!

Camped once in the rain and spent most of the time in the toilet block.

After a long and rainy windy week in Aglesey last year we have vowed not to go again if forecast is grim.
Other than that pack lots of waterproofs , change of clothes and indoor games.

Or camp in May , June as weather usually 'summer like' then !!

Went camping with the family in the wind once, wasn't even that windy really, but one of our tent's poles snapped. Took about 4 - 5 hours to get to the campsite from home, then had to go all the way back home which seemed even longer than the way there.

So I would advise being cautious if it's any more than a bit breezy when putting up the tent.

Well, we've decided to go and if we can't get the tent up, we'll just check in to a hotel

Good luck in Snowdonia, domesticsluttery.

I am braving the crap weather this weekend although only for 1 night!

Im guessing if the kids get soaked it wont matter for the night

Take a bit roll of binbags. The important thing is to try and keep the wet and dry stuff separate. And if you have a big tent and a big car, take a folding airing rack and some coathangers.

You will thank me for this advice, I promise.

We just got back from week on site facing solent- not much rain but awful wind!

I spent 2 nights watching tent blow about like mad, DS (3) hated the billowing tent and woke frequently- beach was out of question unless you wanted to be flayed by sand!

Was determined to stick it out for the week- but on friday morning a tent pole finally snapped and we decided to bugger off.

Decision helped by family next door with challenging 4yr old son, who spent most of week trying to hit my ds with shovel/rub mud on his face/ throw rocks at him (ds v undiscriminating & thought he was great!), and 2 dogs that yapped madly- the kids were trained to shout 'Dog shit! Dog shit! Mum come and get it!' whereupon mum flicked it into the trees behind tents with a shovel, despite the dog poo bins everywhere .
