What are Eurohike tents like?

We are thinking about buying a tent for our family of 4. Millets have a few good looking deals on at the moment so was wondering if their tents are any good. And if not, what would be good?

Don't want to spend too much as it wouldn't be used loads but would like it to last us a good few years. We'd be camping in campsites and have a reasonably big car. Oh and 2 toddlers so something fairly quick to put up or that only requires one person would be good.

Another brand- Hi Gear, what are they like? Go Outdoors has a decent looking 5 man one that looks good.

And if you have 2 bedrooms is it better for them to be next to each other or opposite? Do you get more living space with the rooms next to each other?

Can't comment on family tents, I'm afraid, as we are yet to venture into that exciting world! (soon though, hopefully)

But we bought a Eurohike 3-man hike tent about 15 years ago and it has done stirling service, very pleased with it

Sure the technology has improved since then, so guess the materials will be different, but I would be happy to buy from them again

Your best bet is to have a look at the reviews of tents on the UK campsite website. We had a Eurohike and it was ok, I wouldn't want to be in it in really heavy rain or winds through.

The Hi Gear ones are usually rebanded Gelert tents who are an ok name. It all depends on what your spend is. I have a huge Outwell for weeklong camps and a smaller Kampa for weekends. The Kampa can be put up on my own.

Re layout - Both our family tent and weekend tent have the bedrooms next to each other as it seemed to give us more living space. A lot of tents like this have the divider between bedrooms unsewn so that you can unzip it and make it into one big bedroom.

i have a euro hike 3 man tent and i love it. easy to put up and (as i found out last week) can withstand torrential rain and high winds (me on the other hand can't)

cheers, I will have a look at reviews and try and go the the Go Outdoors shop (think that's what it's called) as I like the look of the Hi Gear one with 2 rooms next to each other.

Hi Gear is Gelert rebranded for Go Outdoors.

I have just brought a Hi Gear 5 man on very special offer from there as a weekend tent and am very chuffed with it.

I can second the Hi Gear tents. I visited my brother this weekend and was very pleasantly surprised by the new tent that he had. It was on offer from Go Outdoors. It had two bedrooms at the back and the living area was in front. It also had two doors - 1 at the front and one to one side and windows which are important if you are stuck inside in the rain.

WTWTW which have you got?
ILJJ Do you know which one it is? On the website the only ones that look big enough (I'm thinking we need at least 5 man really) either have no windows or only 1 room.

I'm currently working my way through reviews and am liking the look of the Vango Icarus 600 at the moment.

We got the Caplan 5, as I said very impressed and all for £79.99.

I know lots of people here have the Vango Icarus on here, I am put off by it only being 2000HH, compared to the much cheapers Hi Gear's 3000, also side to side I thought the Vango looked surprisingly flimsy.

We've got a Eurohike tent (I think it is this one which is pretty cheap and cheerful but does us fine even in wild Welsh weather!
