Is 2000 calories a day too much?

I’m once again trying to take control of my weight gain as I have been steadily getting bigger for the last 13 years.

I’m being honest on my fitness pal, and I come in at around 2300 calories every day.

without tracking calories I would have thought I was really healthy. I eat mainly whole foods, no upfs, and 3 balanced meals per day.

each meal is over 700 calories.

I’m wondering if I just pull it down slightly to 2000 calories per day would that be slow and steady way to live?

I’m around 75kg and 5’6.

im really active and run a lot. When I started running I slimmed down massively- it’s all piled back on though.

would love to get under 70kg.

It can be for some people.

There are plenty of meals that could come in well under 700 calories though, and be perfectly filling. When I’m actively trying to lose weight I make things like Turkey and veg chilli/tomato based curries/casseroles with lean meat and loads of veg.

What sort of meals are you cooking?

you know those TDEE calculators are VERY broad and inaccurate right? Two people of the same age, height, weight and activity level won’t have the same requirements. By a looonnng way. They are very misleading.

similarly it is impossible to accurately count calories to within 100 calories. An egg isn’t an egg. An egg can be bigger smaller, have a larger yolk a less calorifically dense yolk. Same with a steak. The stats and calculators are to be used as a guide. Not to the decimal point

Everyone is different. I’m 5 foot 5 and and run 3 xs a week. Am around 60kg and if I want to loose weight I need to eat around 1500 cals.

Best thing to do is drop it to 2000 and see how you go the next couple of weeks. I suspect you will loose weight. If/when that weight loss slows drop it again by a further 200 cals and monitor again.
It really is just trail and error. Most calculators put me at around 1800 for weight loss but I’ve found that’s too high (prob due to my age).
