I'm in a calorie deficit. Eating 1500 a day with a tdee of 2075.
I use the gym twice a week and walk 18k ish steps a day.
This year I've cut out my cola habit and crisps and haven't touched a bar of chocolate. Everything is weighed and measured and tracked.

In three weeks I've bounced around the same weight losing and gaining. Today back up to where I started. To say I've had enough is an understatement, I am enjoying eating better food but fed up with it making no difference.
People say wait a few weeks - it's been 3 already and on all the boards everyone is losing! I hope to lose before a holiday next week but now I won't have lost and I'm anxious about the holiday and coming back even heavier and being stuck at that!!

Anyone else in this back hole of calorie counting?

Yes, similar. Eating 1,300 a day. Lost 1lb this week, 0lb the week before, never more than 2lb.

It's going unbearably slowly. TDEE is 2270 so I'm not eating too much. Tracking everything on My Fitness Pal, weighing and measuring things.

I'm avoiding any UPF, cooking from scratch, eating plenty of vegetables and fruit, lots of fibre.

I think I might have to switch to low carb because at this rate it's going to take decades to lose weight!

It is so frustrating. I'm not even losing a 1lb. Just bouncing around the same weight.
Think I'll stick with it till holiday, enjoy that then come home and reassess.
Glad it's not just me but sorry it's happening to you too!

Better staying the same than going up. Enjoy your holiday.

I'm in the exact same boat! Been calorie counting since October, most 14lb had 2 days off at Xmas but straight back into it and I have been disciplined. I am weight training 3-4 times per week so I have bought some scales that measure body fat/muscle mass etc and that is changing in terms of %

Glad I’m not the only one!

Have been eating between 1250 - 1400 calories every day since the start of the year and the scale hasn’t budged for 9 days straight now. My calorie intake is absolutely correct as I weigh everything, and I’m hitting over 10K steps each day, walking twice daily and running every second day too, so I can’t understand why the scales aren’t shifting!

5 years ago during lockdown I remember the weight falling off during the first few weeks of dieting and then obviously slowing down a bit as months went on. But to be stalling already only a few weeks in?? It’s so frustrating and makes it super hard to stay motivated!

I’m just hoping that soon I’ll see a big drop.

keeponplodding7 · 05/02/2025 07:22

Same here! Any improvement since your first post? Been doing it for three weeks now and the scales hop around the same 5lbs and this morning back to only loosing 2lbs! I’m 5ft 1 so maintenance is 1621 so have been doing 1150 cals and between 10k to 15k steps a day. I’m now starting resistance and hoping that will have an impact - although wondering if the muscle I’m hopefully building will stall the weight loss?

DailyEnergyCrisis · 06/02/2025 18:12

Exact same! It’s bloody slow going. Most days eating around 1300 and exercising (an hour of cardio and strength 4 times a week). Lost 1kg in past month (so around half a pound a week).

socks1107 · 06/02/2025 21:23

I've had improvement! Lost 6.5lbs now, slow compared to others but it's coming off.
I'm eating 1500 calories a day, and gym twice a week along with 18k steps a day. I'm still going albeit slower than others

Thanks for updating. Just out of interest @socks1107 did you relax your cals a bit on holiday? I find I sometimes kick into weight loss when I start to eat more after a period of restriction.

socks1107 · 08/02/2025 22:29

I did relax on holiday and today weighed in another 2.5lb down so it's coming off! 9lb since new yearSmile

Well done @socks1107, that’s an amazing loss in just over a month. Hoping to shift a bit more myself very soon but it’s harder than it used to be despite a lot of exercise.
