Calories in Night Nurse capsules

I have a condition and can only eat 600 calories a day (and yes, I have finally found a doctor to help with this after looking for decades). I'm trying to come off some sleep meds that make the constant weight gain on even slightly higher amounts worse but need something to replace it. Night nurse helps a little but has about 72 calories in one dose. That's too high - it's more than 10% of my daily intake. Does anyone know how many calories are in the capsules? I can't find the info online but one site suggested it was lower as it doesn't have to be sugary in the capsules.

You've answered your own question if you know it's 72. What happens if you go over 600cals, that's really low.

It's the liquid that has 72 calories in a dose - not the capsules. I start gaining weight if I go over 600 calories a day. It piles on rapidly if I go anywhere near 1000 calories a day.

800 is my limit before I start putting on weight so I sympathise

Look at the ingredients in each. I would assume the calories are high in the liquid form brocade it’s suspended in a sucrose syrup which will be absent in the capsule

How long have you lived with this notnorman? It disables me completely. I have no energy at all.

That sounds really difficult to manage.

We use galpharm day and night capsules for coughs and colds. The night time ones certainly help with sleep. Don’t think any calories are given on the pack so presumably trace?

You poor thing, 600 calories is incredibly low, no wonder you're tired and lacking in energy. Does your doctor know about your insomnia? Maybe they can suggest something? I always use Kirkland Sleep Aid when I need to - I'm a nurse and occasionally have to work night shifts, which messes up my sleep pattern badly. There are also antihistamine sleep aids, like Nytol, have you tried them? Zero calories.

I'll try all of those suggestions. Yes, doctors know about the insomnia and I see a sleep specialist. It's actually quite well managed at the moment but I'm trying to find alternatives to the drugs I'm on as they have risks and side effects. I used to take Nytol and it did something although the effects were pretty minimal. But as part of a cocktail of OTC drugs it might be worth checking out again. I've also just bought an Apollo Neuro for vagus nerve stimulation. I'll see if that does anything over the next few weeks!
