Hi, can anyone recommend a free calorie counting app? Everytime I get through the registration i find out it's not actually free which is so annoying! Thanks in advance.

I use fat secret. Not keen on the name, but it’s a good app! Use monitor your weight for tracking weight loss on a graph.

I use my fitness pal. Takes a bit of getting sorted at first but once all the main foods are in it's really quick.

I also use my fitness pal. It can link to various step trackers too if you like

Cronometer. My fitness pal has a lot of user-provided data and some might be accurate, but plenty are not.

GildedRage · 10/01/2025 05:46

Another Cronometer fan due to its accuracy.

MyNetDiary is great. Really easy to use.

I use my fitness pal

I'm using MFP. Seems OK

BashfulClam · 13/01/2025 19:48

My fitness pal but just check the calories and click on the green shield to make sure it’s accurate.

I like nutracheck. I am paying for it but at £27:99 for the whole year I think it's good value! It's certainly helping me keep track of calories and macros. There is a free light version you can try before you buy to see if it suits. But I reckon 7 1/2p per day is ok 😀 I'm down 1 stone 9lb so it's working for me!

You might want to give BodyPal: AI calorie tracker a try. It uses AI to log calories with a simple food photo and gives you a personalized plan based on your goals. I find the recipe builder handy for keeping track of my meals, and it syncs well with my iPhone. It's free, with some in-app purchases if you want more features.

Nutracheck is good, easy to use and shows you the fibre / protein / sugar etc too

Cronometer.
It gives you calories, macro and micronutrients, you can put targets, you can see details for each amino acid, by far the best free one.
