Slow weight loss

I am calorie counting and for the first time in a long time I feel so determined! However, I started a week ago on a 1200 calorie a day diet. I'm having a slimfast shake for breakfast as I'm not much of a breakfast eater, and I love milkshakes lol. When I started I was 12.2, however, I was on my period and that normally adds on a couple pounds.

When I've previously done 1200 calorie diets the first week is when I normally lose the most. Probably about 6lbs in the first week due to water weight etc. But I've lost just 1lb in a week. I've walked over 10,000 steps a day for a week and eaten 1200 cals or less a day. Eaten healthy dinners, added veg etc.

Is this because I'm now over 30 and weight slows down, as I've been told! I don't want to lose motivation but not seeing much of a loss is a bit disheartening and i just want to eat chips 😂

I am 5 ft and weigh 12 stone. I would like to lose roughly 2 stone, but am more interested in going down sizes in my clothes as things aren't fitting anymore.

What can i do to help my weight loss to see a loss of at least 2lbs a week preferably? I want to do this diet properly and make it sustainable for the future too. I feel so disgusting in myself and not attractive in the slightest!

Also, does it matter what you eat on a diet as long as you stay in a calorie deficit? So say I had absolutely no calories throughout the day, could I then indulge at dinnertime and consume the entire 1200 calories for that one meal? Either a pasta dish or say mcdonalds? Just a general enquiry, not saying I want to do this lol

Your calorie deficit is roughly 400/day based on your age*, height and weight (not allowing for miscalulations of what you're eating). So a lb in a week is about right.

I think there's an OMAD thread on here (one meal a day) and people do have success with it (I haven't done it). In theory (and loosely speaking) yes you can have 1200 calories of McDonalds once a day, but the resulting nutrient deficiencies eating one meal of crap a day would probably stop weightloss and have other health consequences. I don't know about anyone else but I get crazy hungry just a few hours after a McDonalds so that would definitely throw me off the wagon!

*I checked aged 30 and 35 and there was literally less than 50 calories difference!

Great thank you! I didn't want to eat McDonald's once a day haha. Just curious as to if I fancied a treat, i could save my calories up once a week maybe.

Should i be doing less than 1200 cals a day or is that normal? If i ate any less I feel I'd be starving all the time. Yesterday for dinner I had lamb leg steak, 3 potato croquettes, broccoli, carrots and rocket salad..... I was still within my calories, but should i be eating smaller dinners?

What about the time of the evening you eat? Or is that a myth? I normally eat at 8pm as I like to eat when my children are in bed lol. I could eat earlier, but i know I would get hungry again.

I will have a look at the OMAD diet. Thank you!
