Fed up

I've worked out my tdee and I'm on 1200
I track everything and drink lots of water.
I started as 13.2. On 4th Aug. My nutracheck app says my 1200 calories will mean 1.5 to 2lb loss a week. I lost 1st week ad expected, then gained a 1lb then lost the lb again but today the 7th sep I'm 12.9 having put on a 1lb this week. I'm pissed off. I average between 6-9k steps a day, gym 3 x a week which only consists of light weights due to injury recovery. I've done very low calorie diets before and they worked really well but I wanted to eat this time but this isn't working. I'm mid 40s, 5ft 6.
Any advice? I don't see how increasing my calorie will work before anyone suggests that. As I say, my tdee says otherwise.

It asked about job though...it didn't take into exercise as this is optional

What calculator are you using because I haven't seen one that would class you as sedentary based on the information you've provided to us here.

I feel your pain. I used to be able to drop half a stone in 2 weeks but now it’s so much slower (age 41)! But, 7lbs off is in the right direction. When I lost 1.5 stone in 2019 I logged my weight daily and the graph went up and down but over 3 months it was more down than up.

The 2lbs a week that these websites/apps suggest are meant to be an average, there are so many factors that influence weight that you could eat the exact same thing and do the exact same exercise/steps two different weeks and potentially see different numbers on the scale each week.

I also read that you retain water most before your period, and most of it is gone once your period starts, so if you’re late or due on this is very likely having an impact.

Have you considered taking measurements too? You’ll often see a difference on the tape measure that you won’t on the scales.

also consider some form of fasting such as 16:8, works wonders.

How does fasting work wonders?

@Vegetus i see weight loss much quicker when I follow the 16:8 rule, you’re essentially cutting out a meal (I eat between 12pm and 8pm so miss breakfast) so fitting within your calories is much easier as you’re only using them on two meals.

I believe there are metabolic benefits too but for me being able to fairly easily keep within calories without feeling deprived keeps me on track. I have a young baby plus a DC at school so I don’t have time for breakfast anyway.

perhaps check out the fasting board, lots of users there swear by it
