Put a picture of you now on the fridge and one from when you were the size you liked or a photo of your favourite swim suit.

Have you tried the 5 : 2 diet. That might give you a break at the weekend that you need without actually breaking the diet.

Take every weekend off - be sensible but don't count

Write down all your common stuff

Stick with a set number of calories for each meal and set meals to make it simpler

Ideally - get someone else to do all the cooking and counting

Do you think that slim people spend every day feeling 'motivated'?

mummy2boys53 · 15/05/2023 20:59

Why bother posting such an unhelpful comment!

If you think it's unhelpful to look at the mindset of people who are where you want be, I can see why you're not having much success.

Best of luck.

People who are at the correct weight don't need motivation . they are lucky that they manage to balance their requirements usually naturally - they can recognise the signal from the body that it's had enough food for stabilisation

Losing weight is fighting the bodies urge to stay at the current weight so it does require motivation and will power

once op reaches her ideal weight she may need to do more work to establish how she maintains as once you have been fat it seems easy to drift up again because your normal may be off - you body wants to eat the calories that you ate to maintain your heavier weight

Other people who are very slim are higher motivated - often in a negative way - recognise them through their unhealthy attitudes to food and the need to control every mouthful

Losing weight is switching to a healthier diet and lifestyle. Those who have done it successfully and kept the weight off will tell you that it wasn't hard or gruelling, and they still eat the same way now as they did at the start of their 'diet', because it's not a temporary thing. They made changes towards a healthier diet, not a 'deficit'.

Some things I think help with motivation ;

Buy and eat foods you actually enjoy.
Slow cooker/smoothie maker/airfryer/soup maker- consider if you'd get the use from any of these type of gadgets
Track your food somehow- on your phone/in a notepad, whatever works.
A journal can be motivating for some people.
Use nice water bottles/plates/utensils/lunch boxes.
Get a fitbit/other step and exercise counter.
Look at weight loss pages/stories online. ,(I like watching tiktoks of low calorie recipes)
Not for everyone- but I like to weigh myself frequently- nearly everyday when I'm in weight loss mode.

Also, accept that all your days won't be perfect. Just focus on making good choices as much as you reasonably can!
