Overeaten massively - how much weight will I put on?

As the title says really ... massively indulged, I usually only have around around 2k maintenance calories and today hit 4.5k.

Google suggests that an extra 3.5k calories equates to a pound of fat, has that been other people's experience here too? Surely your body can't put that much fat on in one sitting?

I eat mainly carbs too and have lost 2 stones relatively easily. I don't get all the carb hate. Carbs are often deemed the enemy though on mumsnet.

What carb hate? It simply releases insulin which makes it harder to burn fat. There are militants for sure, but not here. It's just how the hormones work.

Watchkeys · 13/05/2023 21:29

How did you lose the 2 stone, @AutisticLegoLover ?

TheyIndeed · 14/05/2023 06:35

Thanks again for posting @Watchkeys, I really appreciate it.

I lost 3 stone and kept it off by "calorie counting" but really, that also involved starting exercise, and changing my diet to cut out processed foods and high carbs as I was all about finding lower calorie, high volume foods.

Lately I've been having more snack foods again as I do a lot of exercise so it's balanced out.

This week I'm going to try and give my former stricter (and inadvertently good for hormone and blood sugar levels) diet a go and see if it helps me feel a bit better.

Glad it helped, @TheyIndeed

My point here was that if someone eats mainly carbs, and they control their calorie intake, they then eat less carbs, and it can work. This is why I didn't understand the comment about carb hate above. It's perfectly possible to have a diet with carbs and lose weight. It's about excess.
