Need to lose 3-4 stone - going back to basics, what are your tips?

I am 13 stone 12, nearly 14 stone, and enough is enough. I am 27 and I want to lose around 3-4 stone not only for myself but also for health reasons too.

I have been very successful on WW before. Obviously I put all the weight back on, and some more, so I've decided to give CC a go.

Looking for some good tips / tricks on how to get started. Thank you!

What is CC?

whatsoccuringnow · 11/04/2021 19:49

My fitness pal
Walk every day
Nothing restricted just all counted in your calculated allowance for height/weight
Swap white (bread/pasta/rice) for brown
I'm down a stone in 8 weeks
Not fast as such but sustainable

I use Nutracheck check to track everything. I have upped my activity and at the very least aim for an average of 10,000 steps per day. Working on drinking more water and have started to use resistance bands (don't have weights). Have also created a weightloss Instagram account to try and keep myself focused/accountable

I say slow and steady wins the race. I read a post on here months ago where the op said she always was disappointed at small losses but if she'd just kept going, she'd be at target weight by now.

I eat the maximum amount of calories I can which allow me to still loose weight. For me that's 1400 and I'm 5ft 5 and has resulted in a 3.5lb lose a month.

I'm on target to get within a healthy bmi by my birthday in August. I plan to wear a bikini all day (not really Grin).

Right now I’m only eating once a day, around lunchtime.
In the morning and afternoon / evening I’m drinking warm water infused with: lemon, ginger, nettles & dandelion.
Read up on intermittent fasting and keto. If you can combine the two then brilliant.
I can’t and so don’t do Keto, but working towards that goal.

I am doing Noom and honestly the psychology behind eating is helping me as well as the CC. Also weighing yourself everyday, drinking lots of water, doing exercise. It all adds up.

Make gradual changes so its more sustainable in the long term.
Listen to your body and be led by that, I am never hungry at breakfast time so just don't eat until midday, but still get enough calories in across the day. I also find if I don't balance my cals fairly equally across meals I snack in between, or get the desire to eat everything in sight in the evening.
Meal plan, and find meals you genuinely really like, and tweak if necessary.
Add veg to every meal, even if just a tomato in your sarnie or some spinach in your omelette. It soon becomes habit and I found I started to want to up the amount and variety of veg included.
Allow yourself a bit of what you want, otherwise likely to obsess about it. I find if I have chocolate in the cupboard for example, and I know I could have some within my calorie allowance I'm less likely to crave it; if I don't then it's all I think about!
Try to add some physical activity in, even if just a bit

I lost 6 stone in a year that way and have happily sustained it since without feeling I'm going without.

I'm very similar to you, lost a lot of weight - got to my "target" with SW then regained almost half of it straight back because I learnt nothing.

I used MFP for a while to help me count but couldn't get in to it as it's very much geared toward the US market, now I'm using Nutracheck and really like the layout and UK friendly interface so it's not so tedious!

I started with the free trial then paid £23.99 for the year so not expensive - I'm only on week 3 but have lost 5lbs so far and am enjoying learning more about what I can do to get the most from my calories and nothing is off limits

I would recommend Ranjan Chatterjee’s book as a really good guide to the key points
