Weight Loss Desperation!

I’ve been struggling to lose weight now for over year and feel absolutely at the end of my tether with it!

I’m currently around 19st (my BMI is 38) and it seems that no matter what I try, the scale just isn’t budging. I’ve had a few blood tests and scans done (all normal) and after this my doctor sent me on to a dietician.

Unfortunately I had a bad experience with the team - new dieticians every appointment, conflicting info - and this all came to a head in January, when the latest one ran through everything I would usually eat in a day, admitted she could see I was restricting my calories...but that I still needed to eat less (I was in 1,200 at the time).

My husband and I are desperate to start a family, but I really worry about being this weight and pregnant. I’ve gone along with what the dietician asked of me, eating very ‘clean’, cutting my calories down to around 600 - 800 a day and logging every single piece of food I eat. I’ve also increased my exercise, but still no luck!

I know I’m probably not eating enough now (I definitely feel like I’m starving myself a bit Grin ) but at this stage I’ll do anything to get the scales moving! Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas I could try to finally make some progress?

Thank you all!

@HMC190 seriously if you want to kick start your weight loss you need to cut out ALL carbs! I guarantee you'll see a difference on the scales after only 2 weeks. No food at all should be eaten after 6pm, just drink water. Also you're eating too much fruit - switch to raw vegetables instead as a lot of fruit is high in sugar - sucrose which is also a carb... your dieticians should have advised you about this...

I agree it would be unwise for you and the baby to become pregnant at 19 stone with the risk of gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia. Do you have time on your side to put it off for a few years? If you managed to lose the weight for your wedding then you can lose it again. Did you get into bad eating habits afterwards as this can help you if you look back at what you were / weren't eating...

You said you've had blood tests but have they absolutely ruled out thyroid issues as these can cause weight gain and can also cause difficulties losing it. Do you suffer from fluid retention or yeast / gut problems as both of these can add extra weight and slow metabolism...
