Calorie counting app - not MFP

Have used MFP in the past but now having trouble signing in even though I have reset my password. It has obviously been taken over by Under armour and won't let me rejoin because it still recognises my password.
Any other recommendations for a free calorie counting app? Uk based preferably

I use cronometer.com not only free but far more detailed when it comes to mineral and vitamins. It is US based but since it is the most used by dieticians around the world, plenty of products from everywhere.

lardass88 · 17/01/2021 19:02

I use nutracheck. It's much better than MFP

Avebury · 17/01/2021 19:17

Thanks will look at them both. I actually downloaded Nutracheck yesterday and really like it but it is suggesting I need to pay £4/month after a 7 day trial and I'd rather find a free one

Could you not just open a second MFP account with a different email address?

Avebury · 17/01/2021 21:39

Good idea - but also nice to know what else is out there. It is far too long since I last counted calories but am determined to use lockdown to get a grip

I really like the LoseIt app. The free version is really good and I’m actually managing to stick with it so far. I also really like that it adjusts calories as you progress and just tell me to eat 1200 calories which My Fitness Pall seems to.

*doesn’t just Hmm Grin

I use nutracheck, it’s really good and well worth £1 a week

NotmyfirstRodeomyfriend · 20/01/2021 21:59

Another vote for nutracheck!

Alwaysandforeverhere · 24/01/2021 20:31

I use loseit found it much better than mfp or whatever it’s called. I’ve got the paid for version for a year so it’s linked upto my Fitbit but you can link it to your Apple health on the free account if your with Apple.

Candyfloss99 · 26/01/2021 11:35

Nutracheck is the best.

@Cormoran

I really like cronometer too for the far more detailed information about vitamins and minerals (I was trying to keep an eye on my iron, omega 3 and calcium intake). However, if you eat a lot of ready made products rather than cooking from scratch then it's probably not right for you. Plus the ready made products won't have all the detailed nutritional information (just whatever information is on the packaging) so it makes it less useful in terms of nutrient tracking
Cormoran · 26/01/2021 20:24

I eat and cook only fresh products, and very few dry food (legumes) and whole grains (black rice), seeds and nuts, so cronometer works for me, but I still consider the nutrition as a rough guideline and not the gospel, as the mineral in a food and your body's ability to extrapolate it and use it are not guaranteed as I learned with my Omega 3. I was eating more than 850% of daily recommendation from plants (so ALA) but a blood test showed I was dangerously low (3.8 and at 3.5 you have severe cognitive impairment ) .
For calcium, it doesn't take into account the oxalates, so if you eat spinach it will show a lot of calcium but your body won't absorb it.

Another vote for nutracheck, it's really great. I just renewed my subscription, think it was £24 for a year, not bad for £2 per month

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 30/01/2021 13:50

I'm using Lose-it. It's a great app and easy enough to navigate. I'm using the free version.

leah1991 · 01/02/2021 10:15

I don't ever bother calorie counting and I've lost weight. You don't need to calorie count. Just watch out for that sugar and fat content, it's always worked for me. I generally don't eat anything with over 7g of sugar or 10g of fat if it's breakfast or lunch. Dinner I allow up to 15g of fat. If you cut down the sugar that works better. Save your money. Cut down on dairy and refined carbs too. You don't need any fancy app or fancy diet Just be sensible

I use FitBit with my FitBit tracker. Very easy to use and there are lots of foods on the data base. Where a food is missing you can enter the details yourself. This website is useful for working out the nutrition in your home cooked meals:
