Time of the month & weightloss

Hi all
Sure this has been asked a lot! But maybe just some reassurance... I’ve been calorie counting for about a month now. Managed to lose 7 pounds up until this last week or so, which is the week before my period. I’ve managed to put on a lb and stayed the same for just over a week? Is this normal? I’ve been so good food wise, will it come off after my period?
Thanks
X

Well done on your weight loss, that's great. What you are describing is very normal, I always get a bit bloated and have water retention around TOTM and so am usually a lb or more heavier around that time. I know it's hard but do try and not get too hung up on minor fluctuations of a lb or two, what matters is that your overall trajectory is downwards. In the course of a month you have lost 6lbs which is great, absolutely on track for sustainable weight loss so focus on that.

It's often said that (sensible, healthy) weight loss is a marathon not a sprint, it's quite dull but you just need to keep plugging away doing the right things and the weight will come off eventually. Bodies are odd things and even if you ate an extremely controlled diet of the same thing day after day and weighed yourself at the exact time every day, you wouldn't lose weight in an exactly linear fashion, a lot of people experience periods of staying the same or slight gain for a week or two, followed by a dip, then staying the same again. Things like TOTM, constipation (sorry TMI) and water retention after eating lots of carbs or drinking alcohol can cause blips but crucially this is not the same as having put on excess fat and it will come off again quickly. Keep going and good luck!
