MFP - slow loss. Plateau? What to do?

I need to lose 6st and have lost 1st 12lb.

Been using MFP since Dec 2018, it calculated 1530 calories daily for me. I haven't skipped any days recording and have gone over my calorie count about 5 times.

Have upped the exercise with long walks - now up to 9 miles once a week, with shorter ones during the week.

Just weighed myself - 2lbs off in a month. Disappointed!

Any wise advice MNers? Do I keep going as I am, or do I need to change anything?

Are you weighing everything that you can? Logging all drinks?
Do you use a fitness tracker to work out calories burnt through exercise?

Sounds like 1530 may be too many calories. I maintain at that level and have to go to 1200 to lose weight. I lost just over a stone from Jan-March using MFP. I then was on holiday and but 3kg back on (but was over eating so it is my own fault) but I am back on regime now and loosing again. Weight loss is hard work so I'm sorry you haven't seen faster results!

I wouldn't discount MFP as a weight loss strategy as it does work - it is pure science.. eat less and burn more then you'll be in calorie deficit which is what causes weight loss.

Other thing to do is go to your doctor and get your thyroid tested.

Have you combined calorie counting with some kind of intermittent fasting approach? I've had by far the fastest weight loss when combining MFP with 16:8. So I eat give or take the allowance it gives me (I try not to add on exercise calories but sometimes eat some of them back) within an 8 hour window. I'm genuinely not hungry first thing so find it reasonably easy to wait until lunch (as long as I get coffee in the meantime!) When I stopped doing 16:8 for a while the weight loss definitely stalled and picked back up immediately when I started again. It really does seem to help in my case...

I had this, the MyFitnessPal community suggested changing my routine, eat more, move less as a one or two off, stop your body getting used to what you have been doing.

So I went out, ate Indian, drank cocktails, a couple of days later finished a box of chocolates but kept on track in between and afterwards, and it worked. The weight loss ramped up again. I do this regularly now, once every couple of weeks, I eat out, I drink, I have a big dessert, I bloody enjoy it and because I am walking over 40 miles a week and still tracking all the calories it has yet to have a negative impact and I haven’t gained any weight in the three months I have been doing this.

How tall are you as 1530 seems a lot to achieve weight loss. As you get lighter your body isn't working as hard so you will need to reduce intake?

A planned day every few weeks of eating pretty much what i like does well for me too...for me the scales will go up the day after then a good drop over the next week.

Thank you for all your suggestions, I've listened to you all!
It's not my thyroid, had it tested!
I'm good at weighing and recording, including drinks.
I've been on to MFP and re-adjusted my goals with my new weight and it's calculated 1340 calories daily from now on. So think you were all correct about 1530 now being too much.
I'm taken 2 days off the calorie counting, back on MFP today and will try combining with 16:8.
I'll pop back to let you know how I got on.
Good luck with your own weight loss efforts!
