Sensitive to carbs??

I’ve been calorie counting for two weeks today. I’m a daily weigher 🙈 but it spurs me on to see the scales reducing so it works for me.
I’m counting my calories on MFP and up until yesterday had lost 9lb. Yesterday I ate a total of 1100 calories but my food was more carby - a skinny Thai soup which was low cal but 22g carbs and I also had a treat of a packet of crisps.
This morning I’ve gained a pound???? I’m gutted to think that even if I stay well within my calories I gain if I eat anything slightly naughty. It’s so demoralising to know this. Does this mean I can’t eat any carbs without gaining weight? Gutting 😩

Your body weight will fluctuate daily based on many factors and the only thing that counts is a downward trend on a graph over time. Get an app and log your weight or write it down every day at the same time. Day to day differences are meaningless. Silly dramatics like this really show that you don't understand how weight loss works and that you're not serious about it. Be logical, think clearly, and do some reading. If you tell us a bit about your current situation and how much you want to lose I'm sure people could offer recommendations.

And of course you're not "sensitive to carbs" - but you will find that eating less of them and more fat and protein will leave you less hungry. Also "skinny soup" is garbage.

Soups tend to be salty and lead to water retention which will show up on the scale.

Absolutely not. I had to eat a lot of carbs and veg due to a temporary health condition which required me too lower protein and fat. I lost loads. But I used complex carbs, lots of pulses and some white fish.

Carbs do hold onto water. So eating a lot of them can give a temporary blip. But you don't lose/gain that much actual fat in one day!

Your reply was unnecessarily harsh!

This is me!

Have lost 16lbs in the last 6 weeks by doing low carb.

Have "cheated" twice.

  1. Fish and chips. Next day = 4lb gain.
  1. Half of a 9 inch pizza. Next day = 4lb gain.

Both times I was within my calorie limit for the day.

It's obviously not 4 lbs of fat, it's salt/bloating/water retention but I've accepted now that it's easier for me to just avoid refined carbs. I physically feel so good eating high protein/moderate fat/low carb anyway that it's not really much of a sacrifice.
