My fitness pal app

So, I have been away for the weekend, leaving my ex (and father of my 2 children) looking after the house / kids / dogs etc. I asked my 10 year old daughter what she would like for breakfast this morning, and she said water. Immediately alarm bells started ringing. Turns out her dad has installed my fitness pal on her phone. She usually (not every day) chooses to have a lean bacon sandwich for breakfast. He says this is wrong and unhealthy. I argue that making food an issue for a child is unhealthy. Help????!!!!!!

Did you want help with the nutrition issue or the fact that your ex has made food an issue for a child?

I think he's totally out of order. Things were said in my family and mine and my sister's self-image is still taking a beating even now.

My children all have cooked breakfast on weekdays (bacon or eggs or beans etc, with toast) and are all very slim. One is skin and bone! I was advised by a nutritionist to give them protein for breakfast (and she said bacon!) as well as carbohydrates, because carbs are burned off too quickly and then they're hungry again.

I've used MFP myself but it's certainly not designed for children.

Sorry this has happened and I hope you can do some damage limitation?

He has made me feel like I'm in the wrong for suggesting that him putting this app on her phone is bad!! The main reason for us splitting up is that he was unhappy with my weight!!!! I just posted on here in the hope that someone would say I'm not in the wrong here!!! My daughter is not skinny, but she does running, cycling and swimming training each week and is probably one of the most active children in her class!!!

You're not wrong, that's for sure!

Jesus that is bloody scary...what on earth possessed him to do that. He sounds unhinged. I would get the app off her phone immediately and tell him to back right off.

Very bad idea. He sounds like he is overly concerned with other people’s weight / shape.

Nope I think he's wrong too, my parents were always obsessed with my weight and it's caused me no end of problems over the years, low self esteem, food issues etc etc. Hope you can sort it out and not have him playing with her head.
