Hello all

I've lost (and gained) weight several times... usually around 3 stone. When my head is in the zone, I am IN THE ZONE, a weight loss machine, but I need that switch to flip now as for the past month I've been attempting to start, and failing miserably (yesterday took the literal biscuit, went to shop for salad, came out with a bag of cakes and pastries that had all been reduced to 9p Blush)

Got about 3 stone to lose. Want to make baby number 2 at a nice healthy weight. DH needs to lose too, has been having stomach issues and is basically a bit plump too...

Gonna flip that mental switch one way or the other, who's with me?!

I'm the same as you, it's all or nothing! But I must admit this time I'm counting calories rather than slimming world and I don't feel so deprived! Maybe not always making the healthiest of choices but it's a start and the weights coming off slowly but it's coming off! Just remind yourself of how great u feel when in the zone and how quickly u feel less bloated! You can do it!

Yeah I'm going from sw back to calorie counting, I always had to calorie count when on sw anyway...
Just need to get started... Let's do it!

It's definitely about flicking that switch. I'm in a good routine with food at the minute, but having to use quite a bit of willpower at the minute to go to the gym at 7am. I find I have to ask myself 'Do you want to look .... or do you want to eat...?' I then find it easier to make the healthier choice.

7am gym?! Yowch. I've had a good (ish) day today, just need to make sure I don't have a late night pack of biscuit...

Feeling like I might have flipped it today, I certainly had not when I posted. I need to be good and let the scales delight me to spur me into sustained willpower!

A positive day on the scales certainly helps with willpower!

I really wish this calorie dogma would die a death.

The reason calorie counting doesn't work long term is because different calorie sources go through different metabolic pathways in the body and have varying effects on hunger, hormones and the brain. The human body is a highly complex biochemical system with elaborate processes that regulate energy balance. It's damn hard to ignore the biochemical drive for easily accessible fuel. Also different foods and macronutrients have a major effect on the hormones and brain centers that control hunger and eating behavior.

It's why you will inevitably put the weight back on. Insulin is the fat storage hormone, if you want to store fat eat foods that spike insulin. If you want to lose weight and keep it off keep insulin as low as possible.

Long term calorie restricted diets will lower your metabolism so you'll put on weight eating less and less. If you want to understand why it will always be a merry go round until you get off I'll leave these here.
