mfp - do I eat my calories earned?

hi all, lurker here, don't post often! I'm using mfp with an allowance of 1500. what I'm confused about is whether or not I eat back the calories I earn exercising. to me it seems counter productive to use the calories and (hopefully) lose weight and then promptly eat them back? or am I just missing something!??! thanks in advance!'

hum I eat them back but im on 1200 calories a day, I suppose it depends on how much weight you want to lose! ? not very useful sorry Confused

I eat them back. Warning though that mfp overestimates the calories burned. I read on the forums over there that it's best to count them as 2/3 or even 1/2 of the value the mfp thing says.

Thanks both. I don't tend to go with what mfp thinks I've burned, I usually go with the gym equipment ( though know that's not exactly accurate either!!) or I use an app like Endomondo which is a bit more accurate. I figure as long as I stay in 'the black' with the calories I guess that's ok, as at least I'm not over eating!

Sometimes I do sometimes I don't, sometimes I eat them back in part - just depends.

The only time MFP 'tells you off' if you eat under 1200 calories - but it doesn't seem bothered if you don't eat back your exercise calories.

If you eat straight after exercise (well, within reason) your body is still in cal burning mode so your metabolism is on fire. My PT always tell me have a hot shower and a decent meal after a good work out. Your body needs food to build muscle and create more energy, so if you're burning through energy on the treadmill, you need to restock. So in summary, if you're on 1500 a day with no exercise, and then you do some exercise and earn calories, eat some of your earned calories to restock on protein/energy.
