Hi all I've really tried to avoid calorie counting as it can drive me a bit nuts. I was on a very low carb (<20g a day) for a few months but I hated it. Problem is I don't like most meats and don't handle dairy well. I also missed all my fave vegetables! I realised I was only really losing weight on 12-1400 cals so I figured I may as well eat the same amount in foods I actually enjoy. But a lot of people say that calorie counting is far more flexible than most "diets" under the idea of a calorie deficit. I'm not saying I want to live off pizza and icecream! I've always been pretty healthy. But if I wanted to have a baked potato with beans for lunch or something, is it ok as long as it's in the calorie range? Or a pasta/rice dish for dinner just two or three times a week? How important do you find what you eat is vs the calories? It seems it's basically possible to lose weight on chocolate as long as it's within your range! So I'm just hoping standard calorie counting will be a little more flexible and I can indulge in a slice of cake or a little icecream just a couple of times a week [smile]
