Who is on 1200 a day?

I have done all I can to avoid calorie counting because I bloody hate it but nothing else works. I am dreading it, maybe I am just greedy but 1200 a day I am just hungry all the time. What do people eat? Any coping tips? I am planning on scrambled eggs for breakfast (2eggs) tuna salad for lunch, a couple of oatcakes with a bit of peanut butter for snack and a couple of squares of dark chocolate after tea. Tea is usually fish or more bloody eggs or a dish with quorn mince - I don't eat meat although I do eat fish.

I used to keep my weight down by exercise but I have health issues at the moment but I am so dreading this. I used to suffer disordered eating and I can't stand the thought of thinking about food all the time like this but I clearly just eat to much and can not shift this last half a stone for love nor money. Sad

I'm a vegetarian and on 1200 calories a day. I plan my meals when I do my food shop as I find knowing what I'll be eating helps me stick to it. Yesterday was:

Cranberry &raspberry muller light and a plum
Cheese salad sandwich (wholemeal bread, lots of salad, light mayo. No butter)
Snack of 15g plain cashews and 20g sultanas
75g pasta in tomato sauce with lots of vegetables
Bag of walkers pops (85cal) and some fresh pineapple

I did 30 mins of exercise bike and lots of walking.

I find making my meals interesting helps (which they weren't yesterday because Mondays are always rushed) and find most of my recipes on bbc good food.

I was on 1200 last year and I lost 2 stones but i couldn't keep up, after a few months i put almost all back on.
I am on 1500 now and I find it a bit too much but I don't feel I am missing out. I might lower it 1350.
When I feel a bit hungry I drink a big mug of raspberry green tea, especially at night to stop snacking.

I'm also trying to stick to 1200 cals. A typical day is
Breakfast: 30g Porridge (made with water & a splash of SS milk) and a small banana.

Lunch: Homemade soup, Muller Greek style yoghurt and an apple

Dinner: Salmon, a couple of new potatoes & green beans

This is my second week. The first few days were really hard but I'm really enjoying it now. I weighed myself on Monday & I'm down 5lbs, very pleased with that :-)

Hope everyone's having a good day. The weather here is warming up so that always helps with eating less!

I am on 1200 a day at the moment. I am going on holiday in less than 2 weeks but I do think its a bit low for me to sustain longer term.

My main issue is breakfast, I am not fussed on cereal (as don't like milk) so I end up having Belvita breakfast biscuits which are 230cals so probably a bit high.

Today

Breakfast: Belvita biscuits (230cal)
Lunch: Cup a soup (60cal), muller chocolate yoghurt (99cal), mango chunks (180cal)
Dinner: Spag bol - mince (183cal) pasta (210cal) rocket (4cal) bread/butter(140cal)

That leaves me with about 90 something calories left so will probably have an apple.

I need more inspiration for breakfast and lunch really.

Also for those questioning if 1200cals is ok, there are lots of calculators out there you can put your height/weight/exercise/weight loss requirements and it will tell you how many calories you need.

The link below suggests if I want to lost 2lb this week I need to eat 969 calories which really isn't much but I am not sure it is that accurate.

Zany Mobster:

Lunch - a late lunch of smoked salmon pieces with lots of salad leaves and tomato plus tinned artichoke pieces. Just 25 cals per 100 grams (but they are not cheap).

Thanks pippop1

Why is it that anything that is approaching nice and low calorie is expensive?

ZanyMobster · 15/05/2014 10:56

That is the problem, when I did slimming world I spent more than ever as bought all fresh meat and veg, was amazed how expensive it was.

pippop1 · 15/05/2014 21:38

I bought nice smoked trout fillets from Lidl which I had today. 100g = 138 calories. Not bad and they are cooked already. 2 fillets weigh 125grams.
