I have changed my body shape....

In June this year, my GP put the fear of God into me. My blood pressure was so high, I needed immediate therapy. My cholesterol was 8.8 and I was two stone overweight. I was 5 ft 6" and 11st 10lbs. Not hugely overweight but, I come from a long line of early-in-life heart problems genetically and it was time to do something.

Someone on here recommended the Couch25K and MyFitnessPal. Thank you, whoever it was.

I have lost a stone and a half (very slowly - averaging just 1lb a week) and my cholesterol this week is 5.8. And, my body shape has completely changed. I have always been a pear shape. So, when I've dieted in the past my top half has lost weight, my boobs have disappeared and it has always just made my bum, hips and thighs look even more out of proportion.

Couch25K has made me spot reduce on thighs, backside (very lean and pert now Grin) and hips. My chest hasn't altered much, my arms are more toned. Every one has commented and obviously, from a health viewpoint with my family history of early stroke and heart by-pass surgery, I'm really pleased. And, I never got belong week 3. What I did do, was do it every day, as a routine, 30 mins. This consistent exercise (instead of my doing 2 or 3 gym sessions in half hearted fashion per week) has been key.

MyFitnessPal is fantastic for those, like me, who had no idea of calorie content and the checks and balances needed to lose weight.

I'm feeling dead smug at the moment and highly recommend this two pronged approach to anyone who struggles to lose a couple of stones or yo-yo's this way and that, on the scales.

Hear hear!

I've been quietly berating myself for the past 6 years (since last baby) for turning into a round flabby couch potato

Reading posts such as yours, OP, have inspired me to get off my considerable arse and do the same

Was contemplating all the effort of putting on some running kit and doing a 3k to start the weekend and was already finding excuses.

Not now, just off out the door :-D

Thank you :)

Thank you and you're welcome, ladies! Smile

BennettGirl 3k?! Wow, that sounds like a big start....good luck!

I have to say, as my husband saw me measuring out 125 mls of red wine (85 much needed calories) he was skeptical. "What kind of a diet is that?" But, you HAVE to balance what goes in and the energy you expend. Simple really yet it had evaded me for much of my adult life.

I did well a few years ago on Slimming World with a friend but, the concept of "free foods" didn't bode well for me! I found myself overrating stuff I didn't really enjoy that much. It was never going to be a long term measure though it worked very well for my friend and! she's kept it off consistently.

Off for my 30 mins now! Have a good day Smile
