Dog Poo Armageddon

We recently woke up to find hundreds of dog poo bags over our front lawn. They had been dragged down by a fox or badger from a neighbouring property. We knew this as there was also stuff over their drive. I knew they had empty compost bags and were storing things in their garden. I was literally wretching. The neighbours did not say a thing, but when we got home they had cleared it up. The same neighbour has been spreading lies about us and up til now we have kept silent, not wanting to be dragged into anything. However, I have been dwelling on things and it’s really upset me. Any advice?

Just to confirm...they had bagged up dog poo stored it in a larger bag, and a badger or fox ripped open the larger bag they had been stored in and scattered random little bags of dog poo around your garden? Then when you came home it was gone?

Put simply: an animal created a mess and your neighbours cleared it up?

Sounds grim but the previous post sums it up perfectly. Not sure why someone would save up 100's of bags of poo but it doesnt sound like they intended you to be the recipient

Smartiepants79 · 30/05/2025 16:35

It’s unclear- was this done by a wild animal? Or by your neighbour, on purpose?
One is unfortunate, the other crazy and mean.

That's what it sounds like. How is this bullying?

Vivienne1000 · 30/05/2025 16:42

I hope it’s an animal and not them being mean. I have since got Lymes disease and my GP friend said the rats will also have enjoyed that. Not great for anyone to have loads of dog poo over your grass. The same people went ballistic when my husband was washing the car on our drive, in case we polluted the environment. Dog poo carries a lot of disease. But because of their outburst over the car, I have remained silent.
if I had done that I would have emailed a huge apology and left a bottle of wine at their door.

Are you saying you got lyme disease from it?

CaptainMyCaptain · 30/05/2025 16:46

Lymes disease is caused by ticks not rats. You may be thinking of Weils disease but I think that is waterborne. I don't think you would catch either off poo bags on your lawn for a short while.

Was he using a power washer and spraying their car too?

shockthemonkey · 30/05/2025 16:51

Thing is, if we’re reading you correctly, it’s not the neighbours’ fault your garden was messed up, and they cleaned it up for you (as they should have done).

dustygrey · 30/05/2025 17:21

this is like a riddle

LadyQuackBeth · 30/05/2025 17:46

This is really odd, it reads as if you are annoyed they tidied it up because you'd have loved to get the moral high ground and lay into them about something.
Now you are blaming them for you getting a tick bite and something to do with a rat? You want to have a go and they thwarted it by tidying up, so no you are clutching at straws - let it go.

DeSoleil · 30/05/2025 17:51

Whilst unpleasant to happen the mess has been cleared up!

Move on.

Vivienne1000 · 30/05/2025 18:09

Of course it’s their fault. If you store dog poo I’m open bags in your garden, then it attracts the badgers and foxes. And rats. And yes foxes and badgers carry ticks. Her rubbish is being attacked and then it’s spread over my garden. We also live next to 100 acres of common land, where farmers graze their cattle. Dog poo kills unborn calves.
Whose fault is it, if it isn’t hers? Everyone in the country knows you can’t leave anything out which animals might attack.

Honestly, OP, you're coming across as a bit irrational. I can sort of see why your neighbour may not like you.

Vivienne1000 · 30/05/2025 19:04

Considering I have not said a word about it and have never been anything but friendly. That’s unfair.

There will be lots of poo on the common land. Possibly deer too and they always have tics. You’re surrounded by nature it seems and that is going to mean poo ! It’s good of your neighbour to have cleared up the mess in your garden.
