School not acting on bullying

My son, now in year 10 and not very socially confident (or socially successful) has been subject to low level bullying for a little while. We have been back and forth with the school and it seemed to have settled.

Last Thursday, whilst in a technology lesson, someone opened his bag, and poured the contents of a water bottle into his bag. Luckily his phone was not damaged and only the 1 book (of GCSE work) he had in bag was water damaged. I spoke to the school that night. They said they were looking into it and would ring me back next day. It's been a week and despite ringing the school on more than 1 occasion, they haven't returned our calls.

There were only a possible 6 boys who could have done it, some who have been involved in previous bullying. The school seem to have swept it under the carpet.

Should I leave it as such a low level incident, (but an addition to previous incidents) or should I persist with the school.

You NEED to persist with the school. They do nothing unless they're forced to do. If another week passes with no response, you need to escalate it to the Governors. They're hoping you're going to forget it, meaning an easier life for them!

I don't think you should be against moving schools if needed, I appreciate that can be difficult especially if your child has made friends whom does not want to lose touch with.

My son is 12, just starting year 8 now but I got him in a different school after just over a term at secondary school as they was simply not doing anything about the bullying he was facing.

Firstly I was only 14 when I had my son and he was picked on for that, not that's its anybody elses business.

also my son has a large mole on the back of his neck (bigger than a £2 coin) so clearly very noticeable and distinctive, kids was bullying him over that, saying some awful things and refusing to go near him as the mole apparently spreads dieseases, anyway the school did nothing so I got him moved, he's now in a different school and he loves it, made a lot of friends and doing really well and can't wait to start year 8, so a new school if possible may just improve things
