DD getting bullied...would you move to a new school just before SATS?

So...DD is in Year 2 and has been getting bullied since year 1. I mean being hit, kicked, hair pulled, being called names. I've had several meetings with the school over the past year and not much has come of it. DD was kicked in the stomach last month and I had had enough, so I requested for her to change classes (I also requested this last year) as all the bullies are in her class, but was told this could not be done so threatened to remove DD from the school. I made DD and DS aware that they might move schools because of the bullying and they understood.

This week another incident happened and DD said she is ready to move schools now. I've asked her several times if she is sure and each time she has said yes. I was going to ring around local schools tomorrow to arrange a tour of the school so I could apply asap, but then realised whilst researching the schools that DD will be doing her SATS in a couple of months so now I'm not sure if I should move her before SATS start.

What would you do?

Whoops ignore my second post there... misread and can see your DD is in Y2 not Y6.

Your poor DD.
Please move schools - there must be another alternative school where?
Please report the bully assaulting your DD to the police.

After the meeting I had with the school I said I was keeping DD at home until something had been done, but after a couple of weeks DD wanted to go back in as she was missing her friends so I reluctantly let her go back. I really didn't want to and my anxiety was high but I didn't know what to do as DD was feeling down about not seeing her friends. Several boys in her class have been bullying her, not just one person, which makes things even more stressful

We had a similar situation and the teacher was useless. I think you need to move her and report this to the governors

Hi @Jennybeans401 - that's exactly what I did! My children have now been at their new school since March and are absolutely loving it, so I definitely made the right decision. And I also made a formal complaint which is still being investigated. I don't know how long it takes to look into formal complaints, but I feel like it's taking a while as it's been 2 months! I have chased a couple of times and was told the investigation was still going on, and that was at the beginning of this month!

SATS are a waste of time, the high schools test them when they start year 7, so move her.

I moved my daughter to a fee-paying private school on the advice of the Police, as the only way to keep her safe from frequent violent attack !!!. So yes, I would definitely move her.

That's a lovely update glad the kids are doing well.

Was the complaint direct with the school?
