Hello All,

Need advise, my daughter is bullied at her coaching program by a bunch of boys and girls. They pass snide remarks like, "you smell like curry", "you are ugly", "you are dirty" etc. My daughter has been putting a brave front but I am worried about her mental health. I have already spoken to the school and the coaching program head and they are investigating. Please advise in case of any recommendations/advise.

You could raise it with the school governors aswell

Revolting little brats...complain complain complain to the Head and demand the perpetrators are punished.

DPotter · 29/01/2023 13:15

Keep the pressure on the school - you want answers to their investigation within 48 hrs, not weeks.

itsgettingweird · 29/01/2023 13:26

Tell them they put a stop to it immediately or you report it to the police as a hate crime.

Then anymore report immediately.

And each and every time.

I'm so sorry your daughter has to put up with such cruel uneducated brats as she is. But anyone who makes such comments in this day and age knows damn well it's a hate crime and needs to know they won't get away with it despite thinking they are untouchable.

Thanks. Will report it to police if this is not sorted out by next week. Thanks once again.

Agree with others. Tell the school that if you do not hear back by X date you will be taking this to the police. Tell them that will be your course of action. I work in a school. Sometimes these things are not dealt with sufficiently. Hope your daughter is ok.

Yes she is fine. Says she will manage and I can get involved if I am unable to resolve. She is a brave girl, extremely beautiful, talented and is competing at international level in sports. She seems to be good on the exterior but heard she cried a couple of times when was at her academy, which obviously means this is affecting her. Don't want her to get the impression that she can't manage but also want to protect her :(

Please don't rely on the school to sort this - I have too many personal experiences of schools failing to tackle bullying and even assaults. Give them no leeway at all. They come back to you by Tuesday. Then you go to the police. If they ask you not to go to the police - go straightaway to the police.

PotKettel · 29/01/2023 14:02

Disgusting behaviour- agree you should step in and escalate, to the police if necessary. Racism, hate and bullying, a gang of lads abusing a girl… it’s appalling. The HT and governors should be seriously concerned.

I am so sorry your dd is going through this. And those lads deserve ever punishment that can be thrown at them, I hope they get properly disciplined/ police take an active interest.

Galarunner · 29/01/2023 14:11

Serious racist incident, you should report to the police. If this happened in the sport I am involved with, it would be reported to the welfare officer and taken to a very high level, probably resulting in a disaplinary and those involved being suspended or permanently removed from the club/ academy.

They are 15, go give the school one chance tomorrow morning to tell you the conclusion of their investigation, if you aren't happy go to the police. I can't remember the full policy, but the school should be recording racist bullying-it's either with SS or the LEA.

My sons racist bully was expelled.

Go her with getting to international level - that's amazing.

My ds is disabled and use to get bullied because of it and I took the same approach with school that if they didn't stop it I'd go to the police. They did get a handle on it tbf to them when I got to that point of making that threat. But we shouldn't have to wait until then before they act sufficiently.

My ds is now getting to international level in his para sport.
