Constantly bullied

My son is 13 and in year 8. Last year I had to move him to a different high school as the bullying he got was so bad. This year the same patterns are occuring, a group of kids seem to have targeted him and he is again losing sleep and very anxious about attending school. I'm concerned about his mental health. I am trying to deal with this with the school but they take so long to resolve anything and in the meantime I have a child that is too scared to go to school.
Because this happened before he now thinks that it's his fault, and that there is something wrong with him, I am fully trying to reassure him this isn't the case but it's so heartbreaking to see him like this. Anyone else going through or been through the same thing?

Sorry to hear this. Poor lad. Speak to his head/form tutor/safeguarding officer and ask for help and advice? Even if your son doesnt want you to - this is how bullying works...I.e frighten the victim into powerlessness...
.Often if the bullies are spoken/dealt with individually the 'pack mentality' decreases. Good luck to you it really is awful when you're in the middle of it. Has your son got any out of school activities he can focus on?

I told our school in no uncertain terms that they have a duty of care and needed it dealt with asap before my child went back. Had to be very 'assertive' but got results. Bloomin stressful- but why should they get away with it and then move on to next victim? Be firm and demand a plan asap.

Funny you should say that as that's exactly what I've done today, his form tutor not head of year will get back to me so I've said until I speak to someone and have a plan sorted I won't be sending him in. His health comes first. It is extremely stressful for both of us surely it shouldn't be so difficult for a child to get a decent education. I'm glad you got results for your child and hope they are doing well
