Teacher bullying child

Our child reported to us that his teacher shouts a lot at her and she is always scared to tears to make a mistake. We have seen an increase in anxiety about making mistakes.

Today our child stated her teacher pushed her into her chair by pressing down on her shoulders as she walked past her, whilst shouting at her. School head master informed, local authority contacted by headmaster. What happens next please? Not sending daughter to school until I know she will be safe from teacher. Obviously there will be an investigation but if my child attends school would she likely be put in her class with the teacher? Or will teacher be suspended pending investigation? From England UK.

Thank you

Contact your local LADO who works with the council

Did you talk to the teacher at any point before moving to this course of action?

No discussion with the teacher directly no. Only the headmaster to report it. LADO has been contacted.

Thank you so much for replies.

The headteacher needs to advise you on what to do next.

since it has gone as far as the LADO it is possible the teacher will be suspended pending investigation but that will depend on all the facts which we don’t have here. If not suspended then yes reasonable to expect there to be a plan to keep them apart (to protect both parties). Only the head/LADO can give you the advice you need though.

I'm afraid it happens, we removed our son from the school to avoid a bullying teacher.

She moved on as well but he settled better in his new school.

In our case she was yelling in his face, it was actually parents who told us as their children had spoken to them about our son being singled out. He was and is very shy and she somehow took offence to that and yelled at him daily.

We did address it with her as well but I'm afraid at the next opportunity she took my son to one side and told him to stop the silliness and shut up.

So not always the best approach.

I hope it gets sorted for you, it's not pleasant and you rarely get anyone believing that a teacher is capable of disliking and bullying a child.

Gosh I'm not sure I'd have done to defcom 5 on the back of what you just said .
I'd have contracted the teacher for her side first at least.
Small children are notoriously unreliable witnesses.
If the investigation finds no case to answer then you and your daughter will have a very fractured relationship plus a reputation as that parent as well that will follow you through the school.
