My son is due to start Y8 next week. He has had a terrible Y7, bullied by several different groups of children. He is vulnerable, quiet with few friends (in fact virtually none). I am so anxious that I have to experience this all again in Y8 and I’m am on the brink of tears just thinking about him going back.

That's awful. What has the school done at the end of year 7 to ensure it is not repeated? I'm sorry this is happening to your son. Sadly in my experience its the victim that winds up moving schools. I do hope he has a good start to a new year.

I had a meeting towards the end of the academic year to discuss my concerns. From there point they say that all the children are sanctioned as per the behaviour policy, but they are unable to go into details with me. I am really hoping that I am getting my knickers in a twist over nothing and that Y8 is a different experience for him. If it continues I will have to escalate higher within the school. At this moment in time I have convinced myself that if there are any incidents I will keep him off school and take him to the doctors to get a sick note for him....all in the hopes that this encourages the school to take further action to help us. I am just concerned as to whether this is the best action for my son.

Academically my son (who has learning difficulties) has come on leaps and bounds at this school and had one of the best school reports he has ever had.

So sorry to read of your DS's difficulties with bullying. In our experience, the school declined to do anything about bullying, and actually suggested it was DD's fault for being bullied Confused.

We home educate now, not solely for that reason, but it did play a big part in our decision because DD felt she couldn't study with that worry every day.

I hope your school takes things seriously Flowers
