Ds is in year 1. When he was in reception, he started coming home with bite marks on him. Sometimes we were informed, some times I found them whilst bathing ds. There was a total of 5 incidents, all which I brought to the teachers attention and was told that ' they were addressing the problems with the biting child'

Move forward to new term, new teacher. Last week ds came home with another bite. I was not informed, it had broken the skin and so I informed new teacher who said she would deal with it. Today, ds comes home having been punched in the face, again was not informed. It is heart breaking and I feel nothing is being done. How can I get school to listen and improve this situation? Surely, this is bullying?

this does sound like something they should be paying close attention to and reporting immediately to you if there is an incident. At dd's nursery they tell me about every minor scratch and for us they're only accidental injuries.

Could you talk to the head? Or write and explain that you're worried and want to know what they are going to do to deal with this and explain that you have already tried talking to the teachers etc but that your ds still coming home with bites etc. I really feel for you.
Does he see this as bullying- is he unhappy at school? Or is there any chance he views it more like rough 'play'?

We have an appointment with the head this week, and are going armed with a log of when bites/ punches were inflicted. Ds is usually so happy, but really subdued and Geary at the moment.

We have already seen his teacher about this child who promised to inform us of any incidents, ( obviously not happening) and who said she would keep an eye out.
I don't know what it will take to change the situation and he's only 5 :(

their current measures clearly aren't working Sad

I think I'd be considering keeping him home from school until they put new measures in place to keep your son safe Sad

'keeping an eye out' is not what is needed here.
