I was curious to see what they felt like and now I’m looking online and it says that it can cause preterm labour and I’m scared I made a big mistake. It was for about ten mins and I feel fine but I have anxiety.

You would have to do it for a lot longer and for several days in a row, to even begin to think that it could be a problem. So, nothing bad will happen as a result.

Now might be a good time to review how you're managing your anxiety during pregnancy - are you getting support from your midwife team for example? Or from an existing source of help?

Presumably you are not already in labour so it has done nothing, forget about it. If it was going to do something it would be happening soon afterwards. Anyway it really is just a theoretical risk, remember many women feed older children through pregnancy and they don't all go into preterm labour, it's perfectly safe.
You can start hand expressing colostrum from 36 weeks usually. FYI I did it once a day for 10 mins from 36 weeks and both times didn't go into labour before 41 weeks.

You’ll be fine. Just don’t do it again until you’re at the stage you can start collecting colostrum (by hand expressing, not pumping).

thank you for responding,
the area I’m in is under funded and I don’t receive much help from my midwife. Im moving away soon where I’ll get much better medical care and have a bit more support at home as I have none here. It’ll help as I’ve been on my own this whole pregnancy.

I don’t really know how to use this site but thank you to everyone who responded for helping me feel better.
