Hi everyone!
I had my little girl very early...she was born at 26+3 so I am breastfeeding as it is so good for her. Well I'm trying to anyway! I'm pumping milk for her as she is still in hospital. I am staying hydrated, eating and sleeping enough but I was only getting about 20ml from both boobs together so I started taking fenugreek 5 days ago to help increase supply but I still haven't had a change. Does anyone have any tips or tricks? I do a massage before and whilst pumping, listen to relaxing music and I pump every 2/3 hours day and night! Anyway thank you in advance

I eat a lot of oats - a bowl of porridge for brekkie and of course lots of flapjacks (any excuse) but defo, defo as much water as you can!

Congratulations!! :) x

Try and really up your fluids. Ideally I need to drink 4 litres of water a day and then any cups of tea etc on top. It really is an insane amount of water you need!

Little and often is best. Keep a haaka by the kettle/TV and express for a few minutes often. You don't need to give baby every drop - constant washing and sterilising takes a lot of time, this is a milk boosting activity.

Are you able to hold your little one? Skin to skin helps you too. Photos of baby while pumping is good and I've even been told smelling a dirty nappy can help.

It sounds like you're doing so well. You're keeping the milk there, the volume will come.

Are you exhausted? I know pumping often is important but if you are up every 2h all night you could be too run down. Give yourself at least a 4h stretch of sleep

I second eating oats.

Don't worry about it.

a) it'll inhibit lactation
b) it's possible you'll be like me - struggled to express anything, but produced just fine when feeding the baby.

Just stick with it, and fingers crossed that all feeds will be in person soon
