We recently reviewed the best breast pumps on the market and would love to hear your feedback.

We tested 15 products over a period of four months based on recommendations from the Talk boards and beyond and awarded five pumps a Mumsnet Best award.

But do you agree?

We'd love to hear your thoughts so that we can make our reviews as useful for parents as possible.

Thank you! Flowers

My Elvie pumps are a life-saver as I've had to pump a huge amount due to a baby who couldn't latch from birth. They are hideously expensive, though, and I wouldn't have forked out for them was I not pumping 6+ times a day. I actually find them most useful overnight as I don't have to faff around with pumping bra and attaching all the various bits when I'm half asleep. I just pop them in my sleep nursing bra and off they go. It means I can also feed my DD and change her nappy etc, while pumping too. And of course they are great during the day as I'm no longer tethered to sofa or having to lug around a heavy pump.

My other pump is a Spectra S1, which I really rate. I was renting a Medela Symphony but Spectra S1 works just as well for me and is very reasonably priced.

Unfortunately I would NOT recommend the tommee tippee electric pump. The air auction pipe is poorly attached to the pump and frequently falls off during feeds - very annoying and fiddly to reattach. Having not used a different pump, I wouldn't know if this is a problem across the board or just with this pump - if anyone could advise, I'd perhaps try a different brand. TIA

One of the silicone type pumps should have been tested. So many people have never heard of them and they really are brilliant. I know they do get a mention but a review would have been better.

Ribeebie · 05/04/2019 12:03

I used the bellababy pump. It was £36.99 on amazon and it's fantastic. So much better than my tommee tippee I'd paid a lot more for. Maybe next time test a budget one like this too. I express a bottle everyday and it works really well for me.

Second that a silicon pump should have been reviewed. As I have a strong let-down the hakaa has been amazing, and is so incredibly easy.

also been invaluable for the middle-of-the-night engorgement when your LO starts sleeping for longer stretches.

cloudymelonade · 05/04/2019 12:47

Agree with @Celebelly the Elvie pump is just brilliant but the price point is bonkers.

Lokidokiartichoki · 05/04/2019 13:17

Silicone pump for me too!
Electric pumps got naff all. Manual 45ml in an hour. My haakaa pump I collected 120ml from the opposite boob in one 20 minute feeding session.

FeedMyFaceWithBattenberg · 05/04/2019 13:26

I exclusively expressed for my son for a year.
I had a Medela symphony for home and a milk genie for when I went out!

AllTheProsecco · 05/04/2019 13:55

What a shame the Spectra pumps didn't make the list.
Exclusively expressed for DD using the Spectra 1 for a year and it is very highly recommended by EP-ers. None of the pumps on this list could have made that possible in terms of cost or being a hospital grade double pump etc.

motheroftinydragons · 05/04/2019 14:41

I'm not surprised the Ardo came out on top. I had a TT single with my first baby and it was awful. Noisy, unreliable, flimsy and I hated using it. Bought the Ardo Calyspo Double with my second and it was brilliant. Sold it on afterwards for £60 too so got almost half back of what we paid for it!

Roxybaby12 · 05/04/2019 15:59

Used the mother care electric pump for both my girls (exclusively pumped for 3 months). It was amazing! Silicone too!! Definitely recommend this. X

Cakeandslippers · 05/04/2019 19:40

Shame you didn't rate one of the silicone pumps, they work well for so many people, so easy to use and clean, and they are cheap - a really great option for people who only pump occasionally.

WoodenToyKitchen · 06/04/2019 10:24

The Hakaa is the best pump I've ever tried.

olderthanyouthink · 06/04/2019 13:46

Silicone pumps are the best, zero effort (aside from stopping it being kicked) and you can get loads if you do it at a good time (mornings best for most I think)

Katnisnevergreen · 06/04/2019 21:41

I agree. My Haaka is so much easier and less invasive than any other pump I tried

HoneysuckIejasmine · 07/04/2019 18:14

Philips Avent was my favourite. Absolutely love it.

Legallygrey · 07/04/2019 20:58

used the medela swing with first baby was ok no major issues but not amazing and expensive to replace parts. second baby chose the new lansinoh compact pump and found it great, cheaper and more compact but every bit as powerful. would definitely recommend.
