What do you suggest a large woman wears while bf in public in the winter?

I am due in Nov with dc2. With dd I only fed in private, would use changing rooms and toilets but hated it so this round I'm going to feed wherever is neccesary and need clothing so I am discreet.

I was a size 16 when I fell pregnant, but in my last pregnancy I put on 3 stone so although I've tried to eat a lot better this time round I'm not sure how big I will be after I've given birth.

All the maternity/feeding tops I've seen are skimpy and clingy - not ideal for me.

So does anyone have any suggestions

I have never worn a 'feeding top', and found a loose fitting top with cardigan over hides things well (I was never that worried about flashing a bit of breast, just self conscious about people seeing the flabby rolls at my side)

I gather that the two vest plan is also popular - pull one vest up and the other vest down so tummy is covered but you can feed the baby.

Cardigan cardigan cardigan.

I am a heifer and a half and found that a nice chunky knit was just the ticket

X posts, we must be right

I'm neither pregnant or breastfeeding but I layer my tops with a plain coloured boob tube underneath so I suspect when I do come to BF I can lift the upper top up and then the boobtube still covers my belly!

Get some plain, stretchy, fairly low-cut vest tops from primark or a supermarket or somewhere. (Best to buy now or at the end of summer when they are in the sale) Then wear these underneath your normal tops. When you want to feed just pull the stretchy vest top down underneath your boob, then pull up normal top, finally unclip bra and latch baby on.

cardigan over the top for extra warmth/modesty

Love SobloodyTireds answer .

So layers is the answer.

Thin top under normal to with cardigan over the top.

Thanks everyone

waterfall cardigan

dd was winter baby, you'd think they were made for bf, you can wrap it right over baby and people mostly think your just keeping them warm, and everywhere does them as they are very figure flattering

they are also excellent when wearing slings.

BOOB tops are nice, not skimpy, but bloody expensive. These days I just wop 'em out anywhere and sod and onlookers

Coldcuppacoffee · 11/07/2010 00:18

Would you fit the H&M long sleeved BF tops? I lived in them this winter, and cardies.

Also bought some thermal vests from uniqulo, pulled them under the boob and a jumper over the top. The benefit being that I was cosy and warm and maybe didn't need quite so many layers.

Ta Da

Noone will suspect a thing...

(BTW BFing DC2 I was past caring pretty much and DS did so enjoy suddenly looking over his shoulder at the passersby, leaving my poor nipple exposed for all to see)

I had a great Fenn Wright Mason poncho I picked up in TK Maxx. Great while pregant too. (I've still got it if you wanted it? - I'm afraid people will think I'm pregnant again if I wear it!!) Also, the vest thing is a great idea as stops you getting cold and exposing your post baby belly whatever the weather!!
