Weaning toddler - will my supply dwindle?

In the process of weaning DD who is 2 years 4 months. Have cut out morning feed and often we are out in the afternoon so she is very rarely having a nap feed, which just leaves us with the bedtime feed.

We were on holiday recently and she went to bed a couple of nights without any feed as was so tired. I have sort of grabbed the opportunity to go forward with weaning. Now she only has a few minutes from one side before bed.

My question is, although my milk supply is obviously well established, will it just naturally dwindle due to this lack of stimulation, and will this in itself cause her to lose interest? This is what I am hoping for, I guess, but not sure if this matters too much to a toddler as she is obviously not drinking that much milk when she does feed? Anyone know?

It will reduce, yes. Slow weaning, like you are doing, is easiest on your body, and less likely to result in you getting blocked ducts or mastitis.

If you want to stop entirely, some mums find it helps to just have Dad or someone else help out with the put down, and to absent themselves.

I think it takes a long time for your supply to dwindle significantly, DH took our BF 18mo away for three nights last week, he just carried on feeding the same when he came home

I am also hoping to wean sometime, mostly just bedtime, before nap, and when wakes in the night now. Night times are the trouble here though.

He will settle for DH without a feed no problem, but only if I am not in the building.

I would expect it might go from just a few mins one side at bedtime, to skipping it some days, then realising they haven't bothered for a few days.

Yes hopefully. Think I am being a bit impatient as getting excited about idea of finishing. God knows why, it's not like it takes a long time or anything!
