Pain in breast and temperature of 101. Do I need to see a doctor?

Sorry, I know this has been done before but I don't have time to search before school drop off.

I have pain in one breast, feel achey all over and a temperature of 101. Do I need to see a doctor? Or just get dd to feed a lot? She is 10 months and only has 4 or 5 bf a day now.

Thanks

If the fever has already set in then you are past having a simple blocked duct, it is mastitis and needs antibiotics.

I beat the onset of mastitis by feeding LOTS off that boob and taking ibuprofen. Make sure to feed in different positions to properly empty all ducts.

Definitely sounds like you need ABs for mastitis. Phone and try and get an appointment this morning.
Hope it clears up quickly for you.

Prob would see dr now but in the meantime feed with babies chin in line with lump/sore section (you may have to lie on bed or hang over bed to manage an odd position)

Def see the Dr, I say this after having mastitis that turned into a hideous abscess because I thought it would go away. Ended up having 2x50ml of pus drained out in hospital and now have 2 nasty scars and a mishapen left breast. Sorry if tmi!

I hope you've been to the doctor.. if you can't get an urgent appt, keep feeding off it anyway as much as your baby will oblige..

I'd definitely get a prescription before the weekend, even if you don't end up using it

Thank you all. I managed to get a doctor's appointment this morning and I've got some antibiotics. Still feel pretty rubbish though.

As my dd is 10 months she isn't really feeling that frequently. Do you think I should wake her up at 11 to give her a feed? (She normally feeds at 6.30pm and then wakes around 4am for a feed.) Or just try and express a bit before I go to bed?

Shuffle - that sounds completely grim! Poor you.
