Has any one used MAM bottles that don't have the anti colic bit?

I popped in town to get some bottles for 15 week old ds. I wanted nam ones as have heard they're good. The only ones boots had were the 2 month plus ones that aren't anti colic. I had a look on the website when I got home and the ones I wanted have an extra plastic bit on the bottom.

Has anyone used the ones I've bought for a 3 month old ok? Am I right in thinking colic should have passed by now anyway? Am wanting to try the bottles to give me a break from breastfeeding so dh can give him the odd feed.

they will be fine
the anticolic ones sometimes leak which is v annoying

LittleNutTree · 08/07/2010 18:45

Hi, I haven't used these bottles but didn't want to read and run since you're bumping so frantically! I think colic normally ends around 3 - 4mths, if this is any help in confirming what you thought??

I used them, but when my son was 11 months old, didn't cause him any wind (but had definately passed by then!) and they are around 10 times easier to clean with out all the little bits

Dalrymps · 08/07/2010 18:59

Oh thankyou so much! I'll give them a try and see how he responds. I live in a small town and the shops are rubbish here for things like this and these were the only mam ones I could get!

I haven't tried them Dalrymps, but you can order the anti colic ones direct from them if you still need to

Flamesparrow · 08/07/2010 21:39

I found bottles made no difference at all to colic. It should be fine

Dalrymps · 08/07/2010 21:54

Thanks for the advice, especially that bottles make no difference he doesn't actually have colic, he's just quite windy/farty

Not tried them yet as not had time to wash and sterilise them or express any milk! Feeding a little better but would still like the bottle option to give my breasts a break.

oh my son is still farty at 18 months but it doesn't distress him anymore so it's just amusing now

I reccomended them to my sis in law, who was breastfeeding and wanted to mix feed after a while and she really liked them as well (just the normal ones like what you have)

Dalrymps · 08/07/2010 23:50

Ah that's encouraging, thanks! I've heard on here before they're quite good for mix feeding so thought I'd give them a try. I noticed when washing one that they do have a little valve anyway to let air in much like the tommee tippee closer to nature ones i used for ds1 so should be fine. Hope he will take to it!
