weaning onto a cup

Hi all, My DD is 7 months and for the last month I've been trying to introduce a cup with very limited results. I've tried various cups with both water and milk and whilst she's taken to solids she's mainly ignores the cup. Has anyone any helpful hints or tips they'd be much appreciated!

7 months is quite young to introduce a cup.
What is your DD's main source of milk? Breast or formula?
What kind of milk are you trying to introduce with a cup?
I think most people who wean from the breast and onto formula at that age would probably choose a bottle.

Personally, I BF until 1 year, but I did start to introduce a cup of water at meals and for extra liquid from about 7/8 months.
At that time I started them on sippy cups that didn't need much sucking, just tipping.
It seems to be quite normal for such young babies to be unenthusiastic about drinking from a cup, but when they get used to it the volume taken increases.

try a doidy cup. my dd got on much better with it than any sippy cups, from a very early age. She could then very quickly drink from any cup/mug/glass.

thanks for your advice, I've been solely bf until now, was conned by my health visitor who told me I could wean straight onto a cup and bypass bottles. I've tried a doidy cup which she does sip from, but that's all she does, a few sips, not enough for me to drop a bf and so I end up having to breast feed her afterwards and I'm desperate to stop breastfeeding!

dd took very well to a doidy cup and will now drink out of anything except sippy cups or bottles .
