Moving on from breast/bottle at bedtime

What happens with the bedtime feed? How long do they have milk before bed? When can you move to a cup of milk at bed?

I've reread this and I know it sounds daft, but I really need to know!!

I'm not sure how old your DC is, but it is safe to move onto cow's milk from 1 year.
Personally, I BF mine for 13 months/14 months respectively and then moved them straight onto cow's milk.
They had cow's milk as their bedtime drinks from then on.
DD is now 3 1/2 and she still drinks milk before bed, but I suppose that's more out of habit than necessity. It's just part of the bedtime routine.

Once teeth appear the final thing beofre bed should strictly speaking be brushing. Milk contains sugar which can contribute to tooth decay just like other drinks/foods. Sorry to sound like I am preaching but this often does not occur to people.

It hadn't occurred to me! We brush his teeth in the bath (he's 7mo and got 3 little teeth bless him), and then feed him after. Hmmmm...

Yes, my two drink their milk after their bath and then clean their teeth before bed.
It all fits well as a routine.

As of last night I changed the routine to milk in front of ITNG, then bath and bed. Thanks for pointing out the obvous re:teeth to me! It hadn't crossed my mind! Durrrr! Poor DS would have had rotten stumps by the age of 2!
