can I just say how fed up I am with hearing that women don't want to breastfeed because it will inevitably result in saggy norkage?

I breastfed for 7 years on the trot, including tandem feeding and am happy to report that my 36B breasts are in very fine shape indeed - I would go as far as saying they're no different from how they were pre-children - perky and up on my chest rather than down on my tum (and trust me - I am my body's harshest critic!).

After that latest attack on breastfeeding by the deputy M&B editor I feel like posting a picture of my tits online

and they're bigger than they were.

I couldn't bf DD2 and mine are v saggy and not at all like they used to be. I think they were much better after bf DD1. Can't imagine why anyone would think that bf makes your boobs sag. Maybe you should email a pic of your boobs to her

AdamsMammy · 28/06/2010 20:26

I have to tuck my saggy post baby belly into my socks so why not my boobs too! As they say on Hot Fuzz 'for the greater good'

Morloth · 28/06/2010 20:29

Mine got better after feeding DS1.

SandyBits · 28/06/2010 20:29

Well mine have sagged. And it is because of bfing, but I'm ok with that. Filling and emptying anything up for a combined total of 3 years is going to have an affect, and I don't think they should pretend it won't tbh.

Its such rubbish, isn't it? Pregnancy affects your breasts, as does age. Stupid bloody reason, as far a I'm concerned.

Geek, have you posted that picture yet?

TriplePachyderm · 28/06/2010 20:36

I have fed for just over five years, spread over three children

mine look great

MumNWLondon · 28/06/2010 20:45

I got stretch marks on mine when the milk came in - but that would have happened whether I choose to BF or not.

And yes, after both DD and DS1 didn't look too different. Agree the damage is done in pregnancy.

SandyBits · 28/06/2010 20:45

Well, fuck my genes
I have to say, I personally don't know a single woman whose norks have not been affected. And I know a lot of extended breastfeeders. It's a bit like people sayign 'how can i prevent stretch marks?' I know that genetically I am screwed, I was always going to get them. But I do know a fortunate few who got away scot free. It's all down to genetics I'd wager. That and a mega super brillo bra.

LizaJ · 29/06/2010 11:56

I am so fed up with hearing this too!

Because I am nerdy and obsessed with people perpetuating nonsense that can be used as anti-breastfeeding propaganda by people like Kathryn Blundell (grrr) I have summarized the research showing that bf really doesn't affect your norks mentioned by TheButterflyEffect for anyone who wants to read it...

My formerly perky boobs are definitely heading south. But so are my sister's, and she didn't breastfeed any of her three. Mixture of pregnancy and bad genes, innit?
