Is it normal to still have milk 6 months after weaning?

I woke this morning with a feeling like I had a bit of a blocked duct in one of my breasts, now I weaned my DD2 sometime in December, so I thought this seemed a little odd. I had a little squeeze (sorry if TMI) and low and behold I still have milk. Now it's not really sore, but one boob definitely feels a bit fuller than the other, though they both appear to have milk. Is this normal? Surely I should have dried up by now? I am definitely not pregnant btw. I also don't know if this would affect it, but I had been pregnant or breastfeeding for 8 years at weaning and DD2 was two and a half, which I guess is quite a long breastfeeding stretch. Both other times I have been pregnant at weaning, so don't really have anything to compare to.

Normal or not? Verdict please.

I could still get a few drops 2 years after weaning.

That's comforting, so not totally weird then.

I also had a few drops a long time after weaning. At least a year.

a couple of years is normal

Why does no one ever mention this? I was sure I'd heard every last detail of all possible breast feeding stuff. When it's all gone is that when all the pregnancy damage to your breasts really shows itself?

I saw damage within 3 months of stopping. I went on strict diet each time and lost the couple of stones etc and once the weight was gone the damage could be seen!

I fed for nearly 2 years, and 2 years on can still express a small amount of milk

Hello - have you got your periods back? If not you could have high prolactin levels which is stopping menstruation and maintaining milk production. This is what happened to me, I have to take drugs to reduce prolactin production.

Now there's a reason to not lose the weight!

Yes, my periods came back when she was about 10 months, so I guess all is normal. Thanks guys.
