How much milk for a one year old - 350ml or 600ml?

DS has just turned one. I've stopped breastfeeding and have moved him onto cows milk. But keep seeing completely different information on the minimum they're supposed to have at this age. Some sources say 600ml a day, others 350ml. I know you can make up the mimimum from other calcium sources like cheese and yoghurt. But can anyone shed any definitive light on exactly how much they're supposed to have each day at this age?

I think it's a pint which is closer to 600ml but as you say if
doesn't like milk (or in case of dd still loved it at that age) can make up with other fluids or calcium rich products.

Yes its a pint which I think is 568 ml to be precise . So 600ml of dairy product.

Great - thanks. We'll aim for 568 ml then . He's not drinking anything near that amount at the moment, so I guess he'll be getting a lot of cheese from now on.

according to thefood standards agency it is 300mls:

Children between the ages of one and three need to consume an average of 350mg of calcium a day. About 300ml milk (three?fifths of a pint) would provide this

Babycentre says 350mls:

From one year, milk should still play an important role in your baby's diet, as it provides essential protein, calcium, magnesium and vitamins B12 and B2 (riboflavin). Your baby needs to have a minimum of 350ml (two thirds of a pint) of full-fat cow's milk each day. If he or she becomes reluctant to drink milk, try offering two portions of calcium-rich foods a day. Yoghurt, cheese, tinned mashed sardines, tofu, white bread and chick peas all contain calcium.

Thanks Seona. I think this is where my confusion is coming from. I wonder where the 1 pint figure comes from?

it is one pint from 6 months to 1 year and then it drops down from age 1 to 3.

TBH my DS (21 months now) has never drunk anything like that amount, so I crazily stuff cheese and yoghurt into him, and he is ok. He even picks his cereal out of the milk if I put too much on. I can't say I blame him, he must take after me, I hate cows milk and could never bring myself to get cross with him for refusing it. Beans are good for calcium too.
