Introducing formula for use once in a while?

DS is nearly 8mo and breastfed, but I'm getting a bit fed up of expressing most evenings to keep a supply in the freezer for when I'm not around. TBH this isn't often...

I was reluctant to use formula but if I did, how should I go about introducing DS to it? It would only be for the odd occasion so perhaps it's not worth it?

(I'm assuming he does take a bottle when you offer it?) Next time you are going out so won't be around, just buy a carton of the ready made stuff, put it in a bottle and leave both of them to it. There's no point buying a big tub of powder for once every now and again use as it won't keep. Your son is presumably on solids anyway so if he decides he doesn't like the formula then it's not as though he'll starve.

Neither of my two even seemed to notice it was formula not expressed milk in the bottle, which was quite depressing to be honest after all the effort I'd put into stockpiling!

He does take a bottle but sometimes protests quite a bit!

I just wondered if I have to ease him in gently from a guts point of view - I suppose not if he's on solids...

I'd say he'll be. If he's not mad on the taste try mixing 50/50 for as while. Worked for DD
