Will I be able to keep breastfeeding if working long hours?

I have a 7 month old baby and I have started to put him in nursery on a part time basis.

I am thinking of returning to work and intend to work whereby I will be out of the house from 8 to 6pm.

I am going to try work only 4 days.

I have noticed that my baby will not take any formula.

We had tried bottled previously with ebm, but now I am too tired.

I left him for 8 hours the other day and he took no milk. He will have water and solids, but just no formula. When I have left him for this long he wants to feed when I collect him and does seem ok?

At 9 months will he be able to manage bf around the work times.

Any help appreciated.

I went back to work about those hours when baby was 5m, he's now 10m and has milk first thing in the morning at home (0630) and then on arriving back home (1800).

He also didn't drink from a bottle easily if at all to start with, but after a couple of days he realised that was all that was on offer (well not quite that harsh but he did need to drink milk and picked up the bottlefeeding technique). All EBM too. I was lucky to be able to express pretty much any time I wanted, and nursery was on site at work so just took the milk straight in to their fridge for use the following day.

If he's happy on the solids and water already, I'd say you don't need to worry. At 8m my son pretty much had given up taking milk during the day. Occasionally he has little week/two-week spurts of making up for it during the night...!

Thanks Lexi - it has been 4 or 5 different days now that we have tried the bottle with him. I also find my baby sometimes makes up for it at night. It is great hearing from someone who juggles those hours.
