what is the minimum amount of breastmilk to still give the benefits

Not sure if my subject heading makes sense but I want to know what the minimum amount of breastmilk my baby needs to have to make it worth it.

I exclusively breastfed (aside from solids) until 9 months but started substituting with formula because I was sick of expressing milk in the bathroom at work. She now has formula at nursery and a morning and night feed from me. Is it still worth it to breastfeed? I heard on the baby whisperer tv show () that a baby needs only 3ounzes to get the benefit of breastfeeding?

For me at least I enjoy the morning and night time feeds as it is a chance to spend time together after being apart during the day but I am interested to know nutritionally how much breast milk she actually needs to make it a better option than formula.

Hope this post makes sense!

Thanks

any breastmilk is beneficial

it contains antibodies and all sorts of lovely good stuff that will continue to benefit your daughter, even in small amoiunts

Every breastfeed counts!

What you are doing, if it works for you, is absolutely fine.

If you are both happy then just continue! As others have said, nutritionally speaking any ammount of bm at all is beneficial. And you can't quantify or measure the benefit your DD gets from the comfort and closeness of breastfeeding. It's not all about the calories/fats/antibodies.
