Anita underwired bras too small - any other options?

I ordered some Anita underwired bras but they are too small in the cup and they don't come any bigger

Has anyone tried the Bravado Allure Bra?
Or any other suggestions?

No, there aren't any other options that I know of. The Bravado allure looks great but isn't available in the UK till September I think -- and then only goes up to a G I think. I am normally a 34FF, 34J when BFing, and made do with a 36H Freya dotty bra and a 36HH Anita bra. Neither of which fit properly. It is so uncomfortable when you're big of nork to wear ill-fitting bras. When you're bigger, your boobs need the support of underwires! You also need the shape they give you, I got so fed up with looking frumpy and fatter than I already was post-baby.

Wrote to Bravissimo asking if they'd consider getting together with a manufacturer to offer larger u/wired BFing bras and they very politely replied with the standard 'BFing boobs should not be in underwired bras'. The fact is, lots of people wear them after BFing is established and at that stage you're unlikely to get engorged at random times and get milk duct blockage, mastitis, etc. I so wish someone would do them.

Maybe if people feel the same way they could email Bravissimo about it? They might realise how much demand there is. [email protected]

To say I am a bit obsessed with this is an understatement! Hoping the situation gets better before DC2 turns up (in a year or two with any luck!).

I have the same problem - 32J now, and have looked everywhere - in the end, I have ordered some normal underwired bras from bravissimo, and will take the clips off the rubbish soft ones and get busy with a needle and thread! really resent having to spend 25 quid on a bra to have to do that thuogh. It is crap though, you think someone would realise the market is out there desperate not to have a monoboob for the next 6 months!

elvisgirl · 23/05/2010 13:11

have you tried the custom Bravado bra from bras4mums? This is what I used at about 32H, not that supportive but I didn't mind about the monoboob effect at that point! I have heard that converting normal bras to drop-down bras sometimes doesn't work well cos the cup-shape doesn't allow for easy drop down like those specifically designed for that purpose but I'm sure it's manageable.

I used the Bravado bras first time round but you do end up with a bolster! Second time round, a friend recommended the bra done by the Active Birth Centre. I have to say it was excellent. I went from a C to DD during pregnancy and an H (I think) during breastfeeding! I'm also small so was looking for bras in a 34H . The only one the NCT had had a zip (really did not get on with that, trying to unzip/zip up while holding small baby definitely not good!

Have just looked on their website and the one they show there has seams (mine didn't but it was some time ago, she's now 10!) but I went for the largest size and it coped all the way through my third pregnancy and breastfeeding.

I remember trying to find a decent bra for some family photos we were doing and no-one had anything my size - but one woman pointed out that my breastfeeding bra was giving me a really good shape (I was wearing a tight top at the time so it must have been doing something!).

Thanks all

holytoast - I have kept all my old nursing bras from last time to salvage the clips etc. Looks like I will be spending half term sewing

I used the ones that zip under the cup rather than the hooks better support and lasted longer.. I needed a F/G
Like Anna Cecilia and Emma Jane, the Emma Jane were beeter made!

Have you tried amplebosom.com? It does bras, including nursing bras, in quite an impressive range of back and cup sizes. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that you can just look up 'nursing bras' on the website, you have to look up the size you need and then sift the nursing bras from the normal bras. Good luck.

thanks amplebosom have the Elomi which goes up to an H cup
