Extremely slow weight gain

My little girl has always been extremely slow at putting weight on- born at 35 weeks 5lb 5 - emergency c-section due to pre-ecamplsia.

She's now on formula, her weight gain is really poor - bottom line of charts and on Tuesday when she was weighed she'd only put on 6oz's in 2 weeks - this week her appetite is even worse having half of what she normally does and refuses to eat more - spitting bottle out. I thought she might have a cold/teething on Monday but its still ongoing. She seems healthy enough in herself - very lively and happy as per normal.

HV said weight would be "monitored" but if I take her back on Tuesday and she's lost/not put on much weight - (I hate going to baby clinic now) - what will happen if she's referred to hospital?

Is she following the bottom line of charts or dropping off it?

If she seems healthy, lively and is weeing and pooing OK and is roughly following the chart (even if it is the lowest line) that she sounds fine and I doubt the hospital would do anything.

If not then maybe they would check her over to make sure she is, for example, absorbing her milk OK and there is no underlying illness to explain the poor weight gain (which sounds extremely unlikely from your post).

She's following - just - the bottom line but this week was her worst gain ever and I'm really worried about taking her next week seeing as her appetite is awful this week. She's only 10lb 7 now and is 5 months old.

Sounds fine then, she is gaining weight normally even though she may be (naturally) small. Are you and DP small? Try not to worry. Someone has to be at the bottom of the charts, it is all based on averages after all.

i'm small (i was very prem!) but DH is quite tall and broad. DH doesn't want me to take her next tue and i can't make it the week afterwards so i'm working myself up and stressing.
